WHAT IS Culturally-Competent Professional Development?
Professional development is designed to engage the mind, body and spirit of all participants. Practitioners learn how to create programming that inspires folks to pursue their career and leadership endeavors through the use of asset-based, hip hop and culturally-relevant pedagogy.
Participants will learn to create programming that inspires marginalized populations in pursuing college and career goals. strategies include:
- Cultivating a culturally conscious space
- Designing curriculum for diverse populations
- Contextualizing curriculum to meet the needs of specific sectors
- Capturing data via student voices, testimonials, and surveys to re-design curriculum with a focus on iterative feedback
- Providing tools and resources for dynamic integration of stories, multimedia, music, and art
